What Lies Ahead for 2017

This has been an outstanding 1st year for my new brand Modlocks. Last February, when I set up my Instagram account, my goal was to reach 5000 followers in a year. Well, that number has since come and gone. Today I have over 6,800 followers and it’s growing every day. I’m receiving direct messages from all over the world asking me for advice about dreadlocks or to simply say they wish they lived closer to Toronto so that I could do their hair. I am humbled by this kind of response. All of this has exceeded my expectations.

So what’s next? Truthfully, I do not have enough hours in the day to take care of so many people (as much as I’d love to). Therefore my plan for 2017, is to teach my dreadlocking techniques as often as I can to as many people as I can because I believe that competition is a good thing. Competition builds a set level of expectations. It encourages people to keep current and if there is no competition, there is no motivation to improve. I expect the people I teach to teach me something in return.

In the meantime, I will continue to schedule as many of you as humanly possible. I’m hoping to do some more traveling and even make time for some creative hair projects on the side. In February I’m going to have a 1 year anniversary/ client appreciation party. Because without my clients, none of this would be possible.

Here’s to you and a very happy new year.
